- This first weekend saw the usual upsets to the establishment, along with the imbalanced adjustments in the polls.
NFL
- No real news to report here yet, as this coming Thursday is the first game of the season
- We are excited anyway
- Truly.
MLB
- It’s September, time for more “The Rays will drop out due to the pressure” talk.
- Penant races are heating up, except of course in the AL West
- CC Sabathia got seriously hosed out of a proper complete-game no-hitter.

2008 Beijing Olympics:
- It’s official, Phelps takes 8 Gold Medals, hearts and minds of the American Public, and more booty than a toilet seat, for the rest of his life.
- The womens gymnastics team got screwed.
- Ryan is a big fan of all sports synchronized, as well as Olympic Trampolining.
MLB
- Rays are still ahead in the AL East, Twins and White Sox are still fighting it out in the central, and the Angels are more of a lock for the AL west than the Sun is for rising tomorrow.
- Outside of the Cubs/Brewers Brouhaha, nobody gives a sweet lick about the National League.
NFL
- Chris Henry is getting a second third fourth fifteenth chance at redemption with the Bengals.
- This is the week to watch preseason football, because chances of seeing your starters go down to zero by next week

ONsports 19: Getting Phelps-ed Up at the 08 Olympics
2008 Beijing Olympics
- Michael Phelps has already secured three five more gold medals, and is a beast. (http://bit.ly/michael_phelps)
- The underdog USA Mens gymnastic team pulls out a surprising medal, even if it is only a bronze.
- Ryan waxes conspiracy theory on Chinese judges and their motives (in a possible attempt to cover up his technical flub while trying to play the olympic theme… Oh burn!)
MLB
- Getting closer to the fun part of the season, Rays are still holding in the AL East, Twins and ChiSox are fighting it out in the central, and the Angels are going to win the west, barring a natural disaster (crossing my fingers for the promised “California falling off the country” bit)
- As always, nobody cares a bit for the NL West. Nobody. Ever.
NFL
- Preseason started last week, bratwurst makers and breweries began ramping up production accordingly.
- As promised last week, for the third time, the Brett Favre saga finally came to a close with him being traded to the Buccaneers Jets. Dammit.
