• No real news to report here yet, as this coming Thursday is the first game of the season
• We are excited anyway

MLB

• It’s September, time for more “The Rays will drop out due to the pressure” talk.
• Penant races are heating up, except of course in the AL West
• CC Sabathia got seriously hosed out of a proper complete-game no-hitter.

• It’s official, Phelps takes 8 Gold Medals, hearts and minds of the American Public, and more booty than a toilet seat, for the rest of his life.
• The womens gymnastics team got screwed.

• Rays are still ahead in the AL East, Twins and White Sox are still fighting it out in the central, and the Angels are more of a lock for the AL west than the Sun is for rising tomorrow.
• Outside of the Cubs/Brewers Brouhaha, nobody gives a sweet lick about the National League.

NFL

• Chris Henry is getting a second third fourth fifteenth chance at redemption with the Bengals.
• This is the week to watch preseason football, because chances of seeing your starters go down to zero by next week

• Preseason started last week, bratwurst makers and breweries began ramping up production accordingly.
• As promised last week, for the third time, the Brett Favre saga finally came to a close with him being traded to the Buccaneers Jets. Dammit.

• The trade for CC Sabathia is working out well for the Brew Crew, he is 4-0 in his first four starts, with three complete games

NASCAR

• Financial woes are forcing General Motors to pull sponsorships of some of its NASCAR assets.
• Despite every shred of evidence in favor of their working together, Ryan Newman and Tony Stewart continue to play coy about their future plans.
• In an apparent attempt to even out the playing field, NASCAR tells Toyota to lower its horsepower in the Nationwide Series.

Well that is what ONsports is here to solve. Ryan is coming back to the podcasting business after about a year away, and I am new to the scene entirely, but together we are going to bring you weekly podcasts summarizing and discussing, sometimes for too long as you’ll see in our first podcast to be released later today, the important and interesting goings-on about the world of sports.

Interspersed will be articles and blog posts, and I am sure I will be setting up a weekly linkdrop of stories from the different sports. We can do the sifting of the good stories from the nonsense, so you don’t have to.
